Sanitja Port – Sanisera

The Sanitja port or Sanisera is a natural port located next to the old roman town Sansiera. The port is in the Caballeria cape and it has an approximately lenght of 800 meters and very little depth which represent a perfect shelter against Tramuntana wind for boats.

The port isn’t very exploited and you can barely see few little wooden boats during high season

Torretrencada Talayotic Village

The prehistoric village of Torretrencada is located a few kilometers from Ciutadella. Torretrencada remained until the end of the Roman era and in its interior are preserved many archaeological remains of interest. In addition to the Taula de Torretrencada, the main rest of the village, there are also hypostile rooms, a talayot and artificial caves carved by its inhabitants directly in the rock subsoil.

Naveta des Tudons

The burial navetas of Menorca are one of the most characteristic elements of the prehistory of the island. The navetas are constructions of stones embedded between them without any cement (cyclopean constructions). Menorca’s most famous naveta is the Naveta des Tudons.

The Naveta des Tudons is the oldest fully preserved building in Europe, and its construction dates to around 1000 BC. It is a collective burial monument, inside which were found the bodies of more than 100 individuals in addition to objects of bronze and bone.

Camí de Cavalls – Everything You Should Know

The Camí de Cavalls de Menorca is considered a historical heritage of the island and declared of cultural interest by the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands (CAIB). It is a famous road that surrounds the whole island very close to the coast. Although the origin of the Camí de Cavalls cannot be accurately established, it is known that during the eighteenth century it was used for military defense purposes, as it allowed the military authority to watch the coast. It was also used by pagesos (farmers) and its access was free for everyone.
