It is possible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/menorca-tour-on-foot-cavalls-cammie-7-days\/\">to travel the GR223 fully<\/a> or in stages, and you can make stages of the road on <strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/calespiques-to-punta-nati-stage-10-of-cami-de-cavalls\/\">foot,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/cala-pilar-to-algaiarens-stage-7-del-cami-de-cavalls-on-foot-or-by-bike\/\">by bike<\/a> and on horseback.<\/strong> The <strong>Cam\u00ed de Cavalls is divided into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/cami-de-cavalls\/#Enlaces_a_los_20_Tramos_de_la_Guia_Oficial\">20 sections<\/a><\/strong>:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There are <strong>sections<\/strong> of less than<strong> 6km<\/strong> suitable for everyone (south of Menorca)<\/li>\n<li>There are sections of <strong>10km without any contact with civilization<\/strong> (northern area of Menorca)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  For all these reasons, Menorca can be considered a paradise for lovers of hiking and mountain biking. In addition, several high-level sporting events are held every year:  <\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/trail-menorca-cami-de-cavalls\/\">Trail Menorca Cam\u00ed de Cavalls<\/a><\/strong>: Several ultra-distance races that are made in <strong>May.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.camidecavalls360.com\/epic\/es\/\">Cam\u00ed de Cavalls Epic 360<\/a>: Return to the island walking, running or by mountain biking during the month of <strong>March.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>  I personally have done almost all the sections of the Cam\u00ed de Cavalls several times and I have participated in the Trail Menorca CdC several editions.<br \/>\n<strong>It never ceases to amaze me how spectacular the scenery is at any time of the year<\/strong>.   <\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Summer_Nautical_Activities_%E2%80%93_Sailing_and_Kayaking\"><\/span>3. This is because Menorca is an island that offers many leisure options at sea for couples, families and friends:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/menorca-in-kayak\/\">Kayaking tours:<\/a>there are them of all levels and anywhere on the island<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/the-5-best-best-sail-and-boat-excursions\/\">Sailing, boat or jet ski<\/a>tours: there are shared and private excursions, from 25 euros per person to 800-1000 euros for a full boat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  I have been lucky enough to travel the entire north and south coast by boat, and <strong>I always recommend to anyone visiting the island to book a day to enjoy Menorca from the sea.<\/strong> I have also done several kayaking excursions and I assure you that they are very worthwhile.<br \/>\n<strong>If you can&#8217;t afford to spend a day sailing<\/strong>, you can almost certainly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.civitatis.com\/es\/menorca\/excursion-kayak?aid=1944&amp;cmp=7motivos-visita\">try a kayaking activity<\/a> and enjoy the sea and the sport at the same time.   <\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Gastronomy_of_Menorca_%E2%80%93_Spectacular_Restaurants_Fish_Meat_Cheeses_Sausages_and_Sweets\"><\/span>4. The main (or popular) festivities of each village have as their protagonist the horses of Menorcan race. During the festivities the riders or <em>caixers<\/em> do different activities on horseback. <strong>The most popular activity is the <em>Jaleo<\/em><\/strong>, during which <strong>the <em>caixers<\/em> enter the village squares (full of people) and demonstrate their skill by jumping the horses on their hind legs<\/strong> and turning around.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The most famous festivity in Menorca is the one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/fiestas-de-sant-joan-en-ciutadella\/\"><strong>Sant Joan in Ciutadella<\/strong><\/a>At the end of June (24th) the most multitudinous festival of the island is celebrated in Ciutadella, with tens of thousands of visitors from outside Menorca.<\/li>\n<li>The main festivities are events suitable for all audiences and there are activities of all kinds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  I personally have been able to experience the festivities of Ciutadella dozens of times, and those of other towns in Menorca on several occasions. If your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/travel-to-menorca\/\">travel dates to Menorca<\/a> coincide with any of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/fiestas-patronales-de-menorca\/\">popular festivals<\/a> I recommend that you go to see them at least 1 day.  <\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_Menorca_is_an_Open_Air_Museum_It_has_1574_Archaeological_Sites\"><\/span>6. This means that there are 2 sites for every km2, and there are 1401 sites catalogued as Sites of Cultural Interest. <strong>Although this heritage is one of Menorca&#8217;s lesser known attractions<\/strong>, Menorca is actively promoting the island&#8217;s important cultural and archaeological heritage. The <strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.menorcatalayotica.info\/portal.aspx\">Menorca Talay\u00f3tica<\/a> project promotes Menorca&#8217;s candidacy to be considered<\/strong> a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. <strong>The candidacy Menorca Talay\u00f3tica<\/strong> includes a selection of the <strong>32 most representative monuments<\/strong> of the heritage of the island (<a href=\"http:\/\/ide.cime.es\/visorIDE\/Visor.aspx?wkid=25831&amp;x=589463.50364067&amp;y=4421534.8999237&amp;zoom=4&amp;srv=http%3A%2F%2Fide.cime.es%2FCache%2FIDEMenorca%2Fbaserefcatxe%2F_alllayers%2Chttps%3A%2F%2Fideib.caib.es%2Fgeoserveis%2Fservices%2Fimatges%2FGOIB_Ortofoto_2018_IB%2FMapServer%2FWMSServer%2Chttp%3A%2F%2Fide.cime.es%2Fmenorca%2Fwms%2Fturisme%2F%2Chttp%3A%2F%2Fide.cime.es%2Fmenorca%2Fwms%2Fturisme%2F&amp;capas=%2C0%2CTU007POI_rutatalaiotica%2CPA007HIS_unesco&amp;trans=1%2C0.1%2C1%2C1&amp;tit=%2C%2C%2C\">Map<\/a>). These are some of the most popular monuments of the candidacy that I have had the opportunity to visit (and I liked them very much):  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/naveta-des-tudons-en\/\"><strong>La Naveta des Tudons<\/strong><\/a>: <strong>La Naveta des Tudons<\/strong> is the <strong>oldest fully preserved building<\/strong>in Europe, and its construction dates around <strong>1000 BC.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/torretrencada-village\/\"><strong>The village of Torretrencada<\/strong><\/a>The<strong> prehistoric settlement of Torretrencada<\/strong> is located a few kilometers from Ciutadella. Torretrencada remained inhabited until the end of Roman times and inside many archaeological remains of interest are preserved<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/torralba-den-salord\/\"><strong>Torralba d&#8217;en Salord<\/strong><\/a>: Although the village is in bad <strong>condition, the sanctuary and the Taula which measures about 4m high are perfectly preserved.<\/strong> The Taula de Torralba d&#8217;en Salord is one of the best preserved in Menorca.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/rafal-rubi-navetas\/\"><strong>The Navetas of Rafal Rub\u00ed<\/strong><\/a><strong>The navetas of Rafal Rub\u00ed<\/strong> are <a title=\"Megalith\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Megalito\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">megalithic<\/a> constructions built between the pre-Talayotic and Talayotic periods of prehistory. The purpose of these monuments was to protect the spirits of the deceased and were used as collective pantheons<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/necropolis-of-cala-morell\/\"><strong>The Necropolis of Cala Morell<\/strong><\/a>: <strong>The Necropolis of Cala Morell<\/strong> is one of the most spectacular in Menorca<em>(Calascovas is first).<\/em> It consists of a set of <strong>14 stone caves<\/strong> artificially carved into the cliffs of a ravine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Landscape_and_Diversity_Biosphere_Reserve_and_Marine_Reserve\"><\/span>7. Although <strong>the Biosphere Reserves are not protected by any international treaty<\/strong>, the simple fact of belonging to the select group of territories considered Biosphere Reserves is an indication that we are in front of something &#8220;special&#8221;: <strong>there are only 686 territories in the<a title=\"https:\/\/portal.unesco.org\/science\/es\/ev.php-URL_ID=6433&amp;URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&amp;URL_SECTION=201.html\" href=\"http:\/\/www.unesco.org\/new\/en\/natural-sciences\/environment\/ecological-sciences\/biosphere-reserves\/world-network-wnbr\/wnbr\/\"> World Network of Biosphere Reserves.<\/a><\/strong> Throughout Menorca you can find areas of special interest. The <strong>best known Area of Special Interest in Menorca is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/30-viewpoints-with-the-best-views-of-menorca\/#Miradores_Albufera_des_Grau_Natural\">Albufera d&#8217;es Grau Natural Park<\/a><\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Albufera d&#8217;Es Grau Natural Park<\/strong>: This Natural Park <strong>occupies 5100 hectares<\/strong> in the north of Menorca (near Es Grau) and is the core of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve. It includes wetlands, olive forests, temporary ponds, dune systems and some coastal islets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  Another very important reserve is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/marine-reserve-north-of-menorca\/\">Marine Reserve of the North of Menorca<\/a>. <strong>The Marine Reserve of Menorca<\/strong> was &#8220;created&#8221; on <a title=\"BOIB 81 1999\" href=\"https:\/\/www.caib.es\/eboibfront\/es\/1999\/5425\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">June 24, 1999<\/a> from the <a title=\"REserva Marina Menorca according to BOIB 81\" href=\"https:\/\/www.caib.es\/eboibfront\/pdf\/VisPdf?action=VisHistoric&amp;p_any=1999&amp;p_numero=081&amp;p_finpag=9262&amp;p_inipag=9261&amp;idDocument=127723&amp;lang=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BOIB number 81 (<\/a> yes, the day of<a title=\"Feasts of Sant Joan in Ciutadella\" href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/fiestas-de-sant-joan-en-ciutadella\/\"> Sant Joan<\/a>!).  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an area of the north coast of Menorca in which <strong>fishing is prohibited or highly regulated and controlled.<\/strong> Thanks to this the marine fauna has developed over the years, creating a spectacular landscape for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/snorkel-in-menorca\/\">those who opt for snorkeling.<\/a> It is easy to see species such as <strong>moray eels,<\/strong> <strong>groupers,<\/strong> <strong>octopuses<\/strong> and <strong>mullet<\/strong> in the north of Menorca.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>I personally spend hours and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/snorkel-in-menorca\/\">hours snorkeling<\/a> <\/strong> in the waters of the Marine Reserve of the North of Menorca.
