Before Traveling &#8211; Practical Information<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Menorca is a small island<\/strong> within the Balearic Islands.<br \/>\nAnywhere on the island can be reached in less than 1 hour by car, and in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/a-que-playas-go-by-bus\/\">summer there is a good frequency of buses<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li>Menorca has <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Menorca\">96,620 inhabitants<\/a> according to the 2019 census.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ma\u00f3 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/ciutadella\/\">Ciutadella<\/a> have <\/strong>about 30.000 inhabitants each.<br \/>\nThe distance by car from one to the other is 45 minutes without traffic jams, and 50 minutes by bus. <\/li>\n<li><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/weather-in-menorca\/\">climate of Menorca<\/a> is Mediterranean with hot summers<\/strong>. The months with the most sun and hours of light are May to September. When to travel to Menorca?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_25953\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25953\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bano-en-la-Playa-en-Invierno-diciembre-agua-15o-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-25953\" src=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bano-en-la-Playa-en-Invierno-diciembre-agua-15o-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"Winter Beach Swimming (December - water 15\u00ba)\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\"\/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25953\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Winter Beach Swimming (December &#8211; water 15\u00ba)<\/figcaption><\/figure>  Many people ask me <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/travel-to-menorca\/\">when is the best time<\/a> to go to Menorca<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Menorca has almost <strong>2,700 hours of sunshine per year<\/strong>. <strong>From May to September there are more than 12 hours of sunshine per day<\/strong> on average.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>  So if you are looking for some sun and beach, you should go between May and September.  <strong>My personal recommendation<\/strong>:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>April<\/strong>: If you don&#8217;t mind the possibility of bad luck and rainy days, I have really enjoyed Menorca in April.<br \/>\nIf you are lucky with the weather, the spring scenery and empty beaches are spectacular. <\/li>\n<li><strong>June and September<\/strong>: for me the best months since <strong>the weather is very good<\/strong> and there are <strong><em>&#8220;less&#8221;<\/em>people than in July and August<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>May and October<\/strong>: If you don&#8217;t mind taking the risk of a slightly worse weather, May and October are also very good options. There are far fewer people and prices are cheaper.<\/li>\n<li><strong>July and August<\/strong>: If they are the only months in which you can take holidays. You must know that the island will be at its maximum capacity, you can find traffic jams and crowded beaches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_How_do_I_travel_Flights_vs_Ships\"><\/span>3. You have to keep in mind that Vueling has had some operational problems in 2017 and 2018, so be patient first and foremost. I have the <strong><a title=\"Buy Cressi Big Eyes\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2EQEhIG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cressi Big Eyes<\/a><\/strong> (and the <a href=\"https:\/\/afiliacion.decathlon.es\/tracking\/clk?org=2615&amp;act=11229&amp;pub=14085&amp;ei1=Gafas%20de%20Buceo%20Cressi%20F1%20Negro%20Frameless&amp;gel=0&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.decathlon.es%2Fes%2Fp%2Fgafas-de-buceo-cressi-f1-negro-frameless%2F_%2FR-p-X8335127%3Fmc%3D8335127\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cressi F1<\/a>) for 3 years and I am delighted.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2CM6b5N\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>GoPro or similar<\/strong><\/a>If you go diving or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/snorkeling-in-menorca\/\">snorkeling<\/a>, try some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/the-4-best-jumps-from-cliffs\/\">cliff jumps<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/cami-de-cavalls\/\">hike the Cam\u00ed de Cavalls<\/a> and do outdoor activities, it&#8217;s great to have a GoPro handy to make some videos that are like-getting machines \ud83d\ude09<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2OV1EW0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Paper Guides<\/strong><\/a>: Although <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/producto\/guia-de-menorcadiferente-en-pdf\/\">I have the PDF guide<\/a><\/strong> that I highly <strong>recommend,<\/strong>there are those who prefer them on paper. If you are one of those nostalgic people who prefer paper, there is 1 guide that I consider essential: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2OV1EW0\" rel=\"nofollow\">The guide Todas las Playas de Menorca<\/a><\/strong>which contains all the information to get to the beaches, to go kayaking in Menorca, to walk the Cam\u00ed de Cavalls or to sail along the coast.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2yFkh6b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Sunscreen<\/strong><\/a>It seems silly but <strong>if you spend the whole year indoors with hardly any exposure to the sun, it is essential to<\/strong> put sunscreen, especially if you are going to be in the sun like a salamander. I always use <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2yFkh6b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the sunscreens that can be applied on sand, sweat and salt water,<\/a>which although they are more expensive they are also much more convenient to use in any situation. In addition the<strong> format is 100ml so you can bring it on the plane<\/strong> without problems.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2SjWIYV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Flexible Tripod<\/strong><\/a>: If you are a photography lover like me (although I don&#8217;t know much) I recommend the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2SjWIYV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gorillapod<\/a>. I use it to take photos with tripod in the &#8220;complicated&#8221; landscapes of Menorca. A rock wall? perfect for the Gorillapod. A branch? I can hook up my Gorillapod. For me it&#8217;s a very positive thing because it allows you to disconnect quite a bit. On some beaches it is possible to catch some coverage, but it almost never allows you to browse comfortably or make calls.
