href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/cales-coves-beach\/\">(Cales Coves<\/a> is in first place<\/em>). It consists of a set of <strong>14 stone caves<\/strong> artificially carved into the cliffs of a ravine. Some of its caves have architectural elements that may surprise more than one, especially considering that they <strong>are funerary constructions from thousands of years ago<\/strong>: there are columns in the interiors, &#8220;skylights&#8221; with views to the sky and what in some cases seem to be windows, at least under my inexperienced point of view.  <\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_are_the_Necropolis_of_Menorca\"><\/span>What are the Necropolis of Menorca?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Necropolis<\/strong> is a word of Greek origin that can be translated as<strong> City of the Dead<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe Necropolis, as its name indicates, were used as a cemetery since <a title=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cultura_pretalay%C3%B3tica\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cultura_pretalay%C3%B3tica\">pre-Talayotic times<\/a>.<br \/>\nThe necropolis of Menorca<strong> are located in coastal cliffs and are spectacular<\/strong> both for the amount of caves in them and for the places where they are located.    <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The most popular necropolis in Menorca are the Necropolis of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/cales-coves-beach\/\">Cales Coves<\/a> and the Necropolis of Cala Morell.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_get_to_the_Necropolis_of_Cala_Morell\"><\/span>How to get to the Necropolis of Cala Morell<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>  The Necropolis can be reached<strong> either by car or bicycle<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>If you leave from Ciutadella<\/strong>, all you have to do is <strong>head towards the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/cala-morell\/\">Cala Morell<\/a> urbanization<\/strong> and follow the signs to the Necropolis once there.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To get there from Ma\u00f3<\/strong>, it is necessary to take the main road to Ciutadella, and look for the signs to Cala Morell when you are near Ciutadella (more details on the map).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  In any case, there is a <strong>small parking lot very close to the entrance of the Necropolis<\/strong>.<br \/>\nIf you go in summer, this parking lot will most likely be full, so you can look for places free<\/strong>.<br \/>\nIf you feel like making a visit on your own, unless you are very interested in the subject, <strong>1 hour should be enough<\/strong> to see most of the surrounding caves and nooks and crannies.<br \/>\nIf you want to combine the cultural visit with some rest and relaxation, right in the same urbanization you can find the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/cala-morell\/\">beach of Cala Morell.<\/a><br \/>\nCala Morell is quite a good place to practice some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/snorkeling-in-menorca\/\">snorkeling<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menorcadiferente.com\/en\/freedive-menorca-enjoy-crystalline-water-doing-apnea\/\">apnea<\/a>, as there is a lot of marine fauna and rocky bottoms.     <figure The Necropolis, as its name indicates, were used as a cemetery since pre-Talayotic times. The necropolis of Menorca are located in coastal cliffs and are spectacular both for the amount of caves in them and for the places where they are located.
