The Albufera des Grau Natural Park is the only Natural Park in Menorca.
This protected area has an area of 5,100 hectares.
It is located on the northeast coast of Menorca and is the core of the Biosphere Reserve of Menorca.
It has taken me 4 years to finish writing this article about the tour around Menorca by bike along the Camí de Cavalls.
In August 2014 I decided to go around Menorca by mountain bike along the Camí de Cavalls.
For this I used a Rockrider bike from Decathlon that was more than 10 years old, and a light backpack of 20 liters approx.
In this adventure I was fortunate to have logistical support by road, but I could have done the same without any support and with much more suffering.
Section 12 of the Camí de Cavalls allows you to enjoy a very pleasant walk with almost no elevation gain.
It is one of the flattest stretches of the whole Camí de Cavalls, with only 122 meters of accumulated positive elevation gain.
The first 2km are on asphalt through the urbanization of Son Xoriguer.
After passing the urbanization and the beach of Son Xoriguer, the route is almost entirely on rocky terrain with several very small coves along the coast, until you reach the beaches of Son Saura.
The Punta Nati lighthouse is the closest to the center of Ciudadela of all the lighthouses in Menorca (with the exception of Sa Farola). For me it is the best place in Menorca to watch the sunset. This lighthouse was built in 1912 to prevent the constant shipwrecks that occurred on the north coast of Ciudadela.
It can be reached by a spectacular road both by car and by bike. The road is two-way but incredibly narrow with two bike lanes on a fairly long stretch. If you drive your vehicle, you must be very careful because it is very easy to meet a cyclist in any curve.
