Menorca is a small island and it’s easy to move around with public transportation. The public bus line communicates pretty well both the two main villages (Maó and Ciutadella) and the most turistic areas of the island.

The main problem when using public transportation is that by bus you cannot reach all the virgin calas of Menorca. This doesn’t mean that it’s not possible to go to beautiful beaches by bus. As you will see now, you have good alternatives to forget about renting a car and to explore the different beaches without your own vehicle.

Below you have a list of the beaches which you can visit by bus. I have ordered them following my own criteria. I hope you like it and you can enjoy the best beaches of Menorca. Remember not to leave rubish on the beach and try to preserve the nature!

Son Saura and Es Talaier

Son Saura is a beautiful and popular beach located in the south coast of Menorca. Those who look for something more spectacular can walk a few minutes until Es Talaier and enjoy the clear waters.

  • You can get there by taking the bus line 66 from Ciutadella

La Vall

Algaiarens beach or La Vall, is famous for appearing in the Estrella Damm commercial of 2010. Is a beautiful virgin beach in the north of Menorca. The bus will drop you off at 5-10 minutes walking from the beach.

Cala Galdana and Cala Mitjana

Cala Galdana is a good beach to go with the family, loungers, any kind of activities, restaurants, etc. in one of the most tourist areas of Menorca. If you are looking for something more selective, in the way to Galdana you can get off in the Cala Mitjana stop and walk around 20 minutes until the beach.

  • You can get there by taking the bus line 52 from Maó or with the 52 and the 53 from Ciutadella.

Santo Tomás and Binigaus

Santo Tomás is for those who look for comfort in beaches with a lot of sand. Binigaus if you want something more wild and the possibility to make trips to the lost calas of the south such as Escorxada or Fustam. The bus drops you off in Santo Tomás and you have to walk around 10 minutes through the beach to arrive to Binigaus.

Son Bou

Son Bou is the largest beach of Menorca. If you want to go running through the beach, this is one of the few possibilities with more than 2km long.

  • You can get there by taking the bus line 32 from Maó.

Cala Tirant

Cala Tirant is a popular beach, usually very crowded due to the proximity with the urbanization of Playas de Fornells.

Es Grau

Es Grau is a beautiful beach in an urbanization not as much developed as the other touristic zones. There are Restaurants and small houses everywhere.

  • You can get there by taking the bus line 23 from Maó.

Cala En Porter

Known basically due to the proximity to Cova den Xoroi. The landscape from the view point are very beautiful and there are restaurants with terrace next to the beach.

  • You can get there by taking the bus line 31 from Maó or Sant Climent.

Cala Morell

Cala Morell is an urban beach next to the urbanization of Cala Morell. A good place to do snorkel or to visit the popular necropolis of Cala Morell.

  • You can get there by taking the bus line 61 from Ciutadella.

Punta Prima

Due to big hotels and restaurants at the sea front, the zone has become a great tourist center.

  • You can get there by taking the bus line 92 from Maó or Sant Lluís.

Cala Binibeca

Cala Binibeca is a small beach next to the urbanizations of Binibèquer Vell and Binivèquer Nou. It has the comfortable services of an urban beach.

  • You can get there by taking the bus line 93 from Maó.

Son Xoriguer

Son Xoriguer is a beach located in the south of Ciutadella, very close to Cala en Bosch and Artrutx Lighthouse. From Son Xoriguer you can start excursions through the Camí de Cavalls (a popular path) and visit the Cova des Pardals (a natural cave)

Cala En Blanes

Cala en Blanes is a small and comfortable beach that you can see from the promenade of Sa Farola. It has a picnic area with palm trees and a small restaurant – beach bar in the shore. If you go to Cala en Blanes you can visit the Cala en Brut platforms, around 5 minutes walking from Cala en Blanes.

  • You can get there by taking the bus line 61 from Ciutadella.

Cala en Brut

Cala en Brut is a perfect cala for those who like cliff jumping. Different artificial platforms allow you to jump from different highs and end up in the sea. Have in mind that it’s not easy and there are risks when someone jumps to the sea from a cliff.
