Menorca with Children in 8 days
Última actualización: 20/08/2024
I have planned it by days, but of course you can interchange the activities as you want, it’s your vacation!
I have already recommended you in other occasions the best beaches to go with children or activities to do with the family in Menorca.
So today I’m going to go straight to the point and make you a plan of 8 days with children in Menorca that, as I said, you can combine as you like, depending on the weather each day or the area of the island where you stay.

But…
Before you start
If you’ve arrived here, but still don’t have tickets or accommodation, take a look at our travel tips on:
- 9 Tips to Prepare your Trip to MenorcaIt is worth taking a look before setting foot on the island.
Generic tips for any traveler to Menorca. - How to Travel with Children to MenorcaMaybe they help you to decide between boat or plane.
- Winds in MenorcaIt is important that you know how the winds affect the beaches (if you want to enjoy quiet beaches with your family).
The guide is perfect if you are staying in Ciutadella(Apartments in Ciutadella, House with Private Access to the Sea in Ciutadella) since the plans are thought from there, but if your hotel or apartment is in Maó(Hotels in Maó) or anywhere else don’t worry, Menorca is 45km from end to end approximately, so if you have a rental car any tour can be done in 1 hour or less by car.
And that said… let’s go there!
Day 1 – Getting to know the surroundings of Ciutadella
- Lunch at the port of Ciutadella, at the Triton bar.
- Visit to the Naveta des Tudons and beach afternoon until sunset on the beaches of La Vall (Algaiarens).
- If you go at a time when it gets dark early, you have to adapt your schedule a bit.
Day 2 – Beach Day in the South
In the morning to Cala Galdana.
You can stay there as a tourist or take an excursion (by boat, Taximar or on foot) to one of the virgin beaches in the surroundings(Trebalúger, Escorxada…).
Lunch at the chiringuito Es Bruc, in Santo Tomás, and beach in the afternoon in the calm waters of Binigaus.
Day 3 – Beach Day in the North

In the morning you can visit Fornells and do a very easy kayak excursion in Fornells Bay ( 40€ – Free Cancellation).
- You will like the caldereta in Es Cranc.
- In the afternoon you can go to Cala Viola or Cavalleria beach (depending on your mood) and then watch the sunset at the lighthouse of Cavalleria.
- Full day 🙂
In Fornells you will find Llatinaboats, which rents beautiful Minorcan llaüts without the need for you to have qualifications.
A good alternative plan that children will love.
Day 4 – Mahón Beaches
- In the morning you can go to Es Grau and go by boat (cab) to Illa de’n Colom.
- In the afternoon you can enjoy the family beach of Sa Mesquida and have a snack of homemade ice cream in the van that is installed there every summer.
If you want to stay for dinner, the port of Es Castell (about 15 minutes by car) is tiny and charming.
Day 5 – Walking to Pregonda Cove
For the more daring and with older children, we challenge you to reach Cala Pregonda.
I have done it with small children and backpacking and it is feasible.
- The beach is one of the most beautiful and different of Menorca.
On the way back you can eat at the Binimel-là beach bar next to the parking lot and have a nice meal. - In the afternoon you can go for an ensaimadas snack at the famous Cas Sucrer in Es Mercadal, buy some cheese and homemade sausage, and go up to see the views from Monte Toro.
Day 6 – Binibeca and a Little Piece of Paradise

Binibèquer Vell is a small village of white houses and narrow streets that is well worth a visit.
You can have lunch there and in the afternoon go to Alcaufar beach, very familiar, and venture to Es Caló Roig.
If you find it all to yourself, it will become your little paradise.
Whether you go to Alcaufar or Es Caló Roig, I recommend you to eat at the Chiringuito Xuroyright on the beach of Alcaufar.
- In this area operates FaralmarSo if you want to take a boat trip in the area or go snorkeling in l’Illa de l’Aire, it is a very good opportunity.
Day 7 – We go to Maó and Favàritx

Start the route with a brunch in Maò in the wonderful Jardí de Ses Bruixes.
A beautiful and very pleasant patio that will charge your batteries for the whole day.
- Visit the city and in the afternoon drive to the cape of Favàritx. Its lighthouse is from another planet.
It is worth a visit and walk a kilometer to enjoy the fabulous Cala Presili and the views of the lighthouse from there.
Day 8 – Relax near Ciutadella

Reserve the day to visit Son Saura and its two beaches.
- If you return early you can stroll around Ses Voltes in Ciutadella, visit the cathedral and do a little shopping.
- And don’t leave without seeing the sunset at the emblematic Punta Nati lighthouse.
These are some of my favorite plans with kids in Menorca, but if you want you can add water parks, visits to caves… There are many activities to do with children that you will all enjoy!
