Menorca is a very popular vacation destination with a wide range of leisure activities. In Menorca, you can engage in leisure activities and excursions of all kinds practically all year round, although most people travel from May to October. Both local and foreign tourists can choose from a huge list of excursions and leisure and cultural offers. Here are 15 Plans to do in Menorca.

1. Visit the Virgin Beaches

Cala Pudent, Macar de cala Pudent and Arenal de s'Olla or Son Saura
Cala Pudent, Macar de cala Pudent and Arenal de s’Olla or Son Saura

Menorca is one of the Balearic Islands with the best preservation of the natural environment thanks to the fact that it has been declared a Biosphere Reserve.

There are pristine beaches in both the north and south areas, and you cannot leave Menorca without having visited some of these magnificent beaches.
Avoid the busiest hours and you will enjoy it more (go early in the morning or late in the afternoon).

My favorites: Pregonda, Pilar, Escorxada, and Es Talaier.

2. Dive or Snorkel

If you like snorkeling, head to the north coast of Menorca (Cavallería, Pregonda, Pilar, etc.), preferably within the marine reserve, and get ready to be amazed. There is a wide variety of fauna, and you can see moray eels, groupers, breams, octopuses, starfish, etc. If you know how to dive a few meters, you have a better chance of enjoying the fauna, but even from the surface, you can see things. My favorite beaches for snorkeling: Cavalleria and Cala Viola de Ponent.

  • Book Kayak + Snorkel Now – (40€ – Free Cancellation)
  • Scuba Diving Baptism in Menorca: If you want to try the experience of diving with tanks, I recommend doing a scuba diving baptism in Menorca. The good thing about doing a scuba diving baptism in Menorca is that there is excellent underwater visibility.

3. Go Hiking on the Camí de Cavalls (GR 223)

Hiking is the star activity in Menorca from my point of view. The Camí de Cavalls (GR 223) is a delight for hikers, although do not expect to find fountains, services, or anything similar. Lots of nature and occasionally crowded urbanizations. 185 km of a spectacular path that can be walked in 7 days (it can also be done by mountain bike), suitable for all audiences. Avoid summer if you want to walk! The most daring can circle the island in a single day if you sign up for the Trail Menorca Camí de Cavalls (GR 223).

4. Bike Tours and Cycling Tours

Menorca is a very flat island, which means it is ideal for renting a bike and exploring it. There are plenty of paths for cyclists, and the most adventurous have the Camí de Cavalls (GR 223) at their disposal: 185 km of path to circle the island. Do not attempt to go on the Camí de Cavalls (GR 223) by bike if you do not have mountain biking experience, there are much easier paths suitable for all audiences.

5. Make Cultural Visits

If cultural plans are your thing, you will not get bored in Menorca: Menorca is full of funerary monuments, Taulas, spectacular caves, defense fortresses, museums, quarries… That is why many guides and public organizations say that Menorca is an open-air museum, because you have hundreds of outdoor monuments.

6. Buy Products Made in Menorca

It is increasingly difficult to find quality and artisanal products, and luckily Menorca still preserves a lot of both. Whether you want sweets like ensaimadas, or traditional Menorcan footwear, you can visit any of the markets held throughout the year.

7. Buy Artisan Cheeses from Local Producers

In Menorca, you can find many farms where high-quality artisanal cheeses and sausages are sold. These farms are usually in privileged environments in the middle of the countryside, and their products are excellent.

A family plan that I recommend is the visit to the Subaida artisanal cheese factory. Both for couples and families, it is a different plan where you can enjoy a beautiful landscape and learn in great detail how Subaida artisanal cheese is made (which is delicious 🙂 ).

8. Go out to party

Who said that Menorca is just an island for relaxation? Surely someone who hasn’t tried the night of Es Pla in the port of Ciutadella, or the famous parties at Cova den Xoroi. During the summer season in Menorca, you can also go out partying, especially in Ciutadella.

If you have not yet visited Ciutadella during the Sant Joan Festivities, you are missing out…

9. Enjoy the sunsets

Did you know that in Menorca you can see some sunsets over the sea from different points along the coast? We show you which are the best sunsets so you can enjoy them with whoever you want!

I personally like to look for remote corners on any cliff to get away from the most crowded spots, but be careful with the falls.

10. Go on Kayak or SUP excursions.

Kayaks can be rented in almost all urban areas. The places where the most kayaks are rented are probably the port of Fornells and the beach of Cala Galdana. I recommend always going with a guide if you are not familiar with the terrain or the sport. The tour around Menorca by kayak is not always possible, but half the tour is within reach for almost everyone.

11. Discover Far Away in a Jet Ski (150€)

It is possible to rent jet skis to visit some coves or even to go around Menorca in just one day. The good thing about going by jet ski is that you can get very far in a short time. Thanks to this, you can discover corners and caves that are difficult to access or far from the main tourist spots.

  • However, renting a jet ski is not suitable for all budgets. Starting from €50 for half an hour and over €1000 to go around Menorca in one day. Do you dare?

12. Rent Boats without Title and Visit Beaches

With the crisis, it is noticeable that there are fewer boats owned and fewer people renting boats. Despite this, it is a very good idea if the costs can be shared among 4 or 5 people, as by boat you can reach coves and corners of Menorca inaccessible by any other means.

13. Go Horseback Riding

Horseback rides are one of the typical activities in Menorca. It is an ideal activity for nature lovers. You can take rides along the coast or inland, and there is even the option to ride horses without horseshoes.

Everyone usually comes back delighted with the horseback riding excursions, which start at around 25€ per person.

14. Take a Jeep Safari through the Hidden Menorca

Perfect for those who want to move around easily, not get too tired, and want to do an activity available all year round and for all audiences. Jeep tours allow you to access hidden areas of Menorca and visit many places in one day.

15. Contemplate the Stars – Menorca Starlight

Pont den Gil - Starlight Menorca

Menorca has been part of the Starlight destination network since 2019. The company Lumínica Ambiental was responsible for studying the sky of Menorca and conducting several audits to confirm that there are areas of maximum darkness in Menorca and therefore ideal for star observation. Observing the night sky and stars is an activity that has been possible in Menorca for many years, but this certification had not been officially pursued until recently.

Prepare your trip with time

In addition to parties, shopping, culture, and all kinds of activities, you can go around Menorca by boat, jet ski, on foot, by bike, and by kayak. Are you up for visiting Menorca?
