Escorxada Cove
Última actualización: 19/08/2024

Of very difficult access and isolated from any urban center, this beach is one of the quietest in the south zone (except in July and August). It is a very beautiful beach, with fine white sand and the classic turquoise waters that characterize the entire south coast of Menorca. The cala is located within the Natural Area of Special Interest Me-13 (ANEI-Me-13) that goes from Binigaus to Cala Mitjana. There are no services at this beach, so if you decide to visit it you must bring food and drink to spend the day.
Keep in mind that Cala Escorxada is a beach quite exposed to the sea, so it is best to go when the north wind blows, otherwise you can find quite a lot of waves.

How to get to Cala Escorxada
By Car or Motorcycle and then 1h on foot
The access to Cala Escorxada is quite complicated. Those of you who go by car have 3 options to leave your car in a parking lot:
- The parking lot of Cala Mitjana
- The Parking of Santo Tomás
- The parking next to the cemetery of Es Migjorn Gran (the same parking you would use to go to the Cova des Coloms, for the bravest).
Once you leave the car, it is necessary to walk more than 50 minutes from the three points mentioned above. You can check the map to see the landmarks. The time of the tour may vary depending on the pace and the start of the route, but it is one of the longestwalking tours in Menorca to reach a beach.
On mountain bike
You can also try cycling from Santo Tomas or from Es Migjorn Gran, although you have to leave the bikes (locked!) at a considerable distance from the beach. If you are in good shape and you like mountain bikingmy advice is to go for a bike ride. My favorite route starts by leaving the car in es Migjorn Gran, then cycling to Binigaus, and from Binigaus it’s all about cycling along the road that leads to cala Escorxada until the terrain allows you to do so. Once the terrain gets complicated, you leave the bike and continue on foot along the path. Remember to bring a large lock, as you will most likely end up tying the bike to a tree (at least that’s what I do).
By boat with the Taximar – 30€/person
- The Taximar departs from several points and it leaves you in any of the southern calas that are on the route.
- The price of the Taximar is 30€ per person, with some discount for families with children.
Once There…
There is not much to do once you get to Cala Escorxada. It’s just about enjoying the place and the beach. If you are lucky and there is not much wind blowing from the south, you can relax on one of the most exclusive beaches in Menorca.
- If you feel like walking, after a while on the beach, you can walk 5 minutes to Cala Fustam.
The main drawback of Cala Escorxada is that it is quite exposed to the wind, so people usually move away from the sand and take refuge in some rock caves next to the beach.

Hotels Near Cala Escorxada
If you are going to visit Cala Escorxada you are prepared to walk and you probably like natural environments with few people. In that case I recommend these two rural hotels:
- Hotel Rural Binigaus Vell: In the middle of nowhere and with option to ride horses. Wifi and free parking and guarantee of relaxation in a privileged environment.
- Agroturisme Binisaid: If you can’t afford to be in Binigaus, Binisaid is a more affordable option.
