Cala Binibeca

Cala Binibeca
The Binibeca area is quite busy during the summer, partly because of the wonderful village of Binibèquer Vell, which attracts hundreds of tourists.
The beach of Binibeca is quite small and is next to the urban center known as Binibèquer Nou, so it is an urban beach.
Although it is a tourist place, it conserves the properties of the coves of the south of Menorca: fine white sand and crystalline waters.

How to get to Binibeca

  • From Maó it is necessary to go towards Sant Lluís and then follow the signs to Binibeca or Binibèquer, in about 15 minutes you can get there.
  • From Ciutadella the route is quite longer, as you first have to go along the main road towards Maó, and then turn off towards Sant Lluís (the Airport turnoff) and follow the signs to Binibeca or Binibèquer.

Next to the beach there are 2 free parking lots, so you may be able to find a place to park your car, although at peak hours it is always difficult.

Once There

Binibeca is a rather crowded beach in summer.
In the sandy area there are sun loungers and umbrellas that can be rented (a bit expensive).
Being an urban beach, there is a beach bar on the seafront for those who enjoy a beer by the sea.
If you take advantage of the Binibeca beach bar to eat or drink something, you don’t have to bring food and drink.

Eat Fish at the Chiringuito los Bucaneros

Los Bucaneros beach bar is one of my favorites in Menorca.
It is located next to a fishermen’s hut with a characteristic bright red door.

The food of the buccaneers is based on very good Mediterranean tapas (mussels, fish, chicken, etc.) and with some local products (like the tomatoes of Binifadet).
The wines are from the cellars of Binifadet.

Visit the Village of Binibèquer Vell

In addition to sunbathing and taking a dip, if you’re at the beach don’t forget to pay a visit to the village of Binibèquer Vell (before or after going to the beach).

Observe the lighthouse of l’Illa de l’Aire from the beach.

If you look closely, from the shore of Binibeca it is possible to distinguish in the distance the lighthouse of l’Illa de l’Aire.
If you have a boat you can pay a visit to the lighthouse, as it is only 5km away from Binibeca beach.
Don’t even think of trying to swim there!
You can also hire an excursion to the lighthouse:
