Visit the beautiful lighthouses of Menorca
One of the representative characteristics of Menorca are its lighthouses.
There are 7 well known lighthouses distributed along the coast of the island.
It can be considered that there are 5 lighthouses in the north and only 2 lighthouses in the south.
In Ciutadella there are 3 of the 7 lighthouses.
The Artrutx Lighthouse is about 8 km south of Ciudadela, in the Cap d’Artrutx.
It is a lighthouse built in the mid-nineteenth century, and surrounded by an urbanization so it does not have as much charm as for example the lighthouses of Punta Nati or Cavalleria.
Its main characteristic is its white and blue stripes, which when seen from the sea are quite striking.
When it was first inaugurated, the lighting system worked with oil, and electricity did not reach this lighthouse until 1930.
