Talaier is a small unspoilt beach in the south of Ciutadella.
It is located next to the very popular Son Saura, and in summer it is usually very crowded with bathers.
Es Talaier is another of the typical beaches of the south of Menorca, with its classic turquoise waters and fine white sand.
One of the peculiar characteristics of Es Talaier is its shallow depth, which makes it possible to go into the sea and still touch the ground.
In addition, it has a fairly large sandy surface, compared to the short length of the cove.

How to get to Es Talaier

You can get to Es Talaier from Son Saura and from Cala en Turqueta.
I prefer to go from Son Saura, as the parking is free. From the parking lot of Son Saura you have to walk about 5 minutes to the beach.
Then you have to continue along the Camí de Cavalls for about 15 or 20 minutes.
During the walk you can appreciate the impressive color of the waters around es Talaier.
Bring plenty of water if it is sunny, because there are no services of any kind and if it is hot you will get quite dehydrated.

Once There

Once on the beach there are no services of any kind, so it is necessary to bring food and plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
It is possible that someone may pass by selling bottles of water at exorbitant prices, something that is becoming fashionable during the month of August in Menorca.

As the beach is shallow, it is possible to go into the sea and reach one of the two “micro-coves” on the right and left of es Talaier (they are not really coves).

  • On the left you can see a yellowish rocky area that is quite good for taking pictures.

Most of the bathers use the concrete platforms built around the sea.
This beach is very well protected from the wind, so the water is always calm.
In addition, from 2021 the entry of boats to this area has been banned.
It has been a drastic measure to protect the posidonia meadows on the seabed in the area.
If you end up on this beach, it is most likely because you are walking along the magnificent Paseo de Sa Farola, which connects Ciutadella with Cala en Blanes along the coast.
