Salty Goat Cove (or Cabracelada)
Última actualización: 20/08/2024

It is a cove of very difficult access and whose main attraction are the wild goats that often lurk along the shore.
This is the origin of the name Cabra Salada (Salt Goat). Even during the tourist season there are usually not many people because it is hidden and incommunicado.
If you want to reach this small isolated corner of Menorca you have no choice but to go by sea, unless you want to walk the more than 4km by land that separates it from any urban center.

How to get to Cabra Salada

Cabra Salda can only be reached on foot or by sea. To get there by sea, simply rent a kayak in Fornells and in 5 minutes you are on the shore of this exclusive cove.
You can also arrive with a motor boat, although you cannot anchor in this cove, so you should stay quite far from the shore.
- Getting there on foot is a bit more complicated, and in fact I have only done it once.
It is to leave from the parking lot of the Arenal de Son Saura beach (in the north of Menorca). From the parking you have to walk about 5Km in total.
Take water and food with you! - Arriving by bike is exactly the same as arriving on foot, although there are some parts of the road where there are many stones.
Once There
There is nothing and no one here, so the only thing you can do is relax and listen to the sound of the goats mingling with the sound of the waves breaking on the shore.
One of the problems with this beach is that nobody picks up the droppings of the wild goats and therefore you will have to look for a clear area to plant your towel…
Origin of the name of the beach
Although practically everyone refers to this beach as Cabra Salada, the original term for the beach was Cabracelada.
- Celada refers to a hidden or closely guarded beach.
- Cabra refers to the wild goats that usually go to the shore to look for water and food.
As the pronunciation of Celada is very similar to Salada, the toponym that has endured over time is Salada, as it is a much more common word in Catalan.
