Mercadillo de Ciutadella
Market in Ciutadella

One of the most appreciated activities by tourist in Menorca are the handmade markets. In Menorca you can visit different markets and fairs, in winter and summer, where it’s possible to buy all kind of handmade products and typical food of the island.

Each town has its own dates for its markets, although many of them happen to be the same day during summer.

It’s important to check with the local people or with some tourim information office the dates of the markets because as they are not permanent and the expected date and place where are held can change. Here you have a list of the markets and fairs by town, updated at the end of 2014:

  4. Mercadillo ambulante Es Born:Market placed in the center of Ciutadella where they sell mainly clothes. Since the summer of 2014 it isn’t very crear where it will be held as the government of Ciutadella doesn’t want such a central location to be occupied. Hi

We are coming to Menorca 19th January 2018. Are there many restaurants and cafes open in the larger towns of Mahon and Cuitadella? I understand the coastal towns are all shut but hopefully the larger towns still cater for tourism?

    Thank you

      Hi Sally,

Yes, in Maò and Ciutadella there will be plenty of restaurants and cafes open.
Take into account that Maò and Ciutadella are cities with 30.000 pople living in each of them (aprox), so they will have services for those people.

Many hotels and restaurants though will be closed as you get out from these major cities.
