Cala Rambla - Sa Torreta
Cala Rambla – Sa Torreta
Cala de Sa Torreta or Cala Rambles according to the maps is a beach that even in the month of August is quite empty, because of its difficult access and the large amount of algae on the sand.
Cala Rambles is in the municipality of Maó and can only be reached on foot (or by bike) or by sea.
The beach has about 250 meters from end to end and more than 10 meters of sand that is usually covered with posidonia.
This beach is in a protected area, included in the Albufera des Grau Natural Park, in the Natural Area of Special Interest Me-7 (ANEI Me-7) and in the Natura 2000 Network.
As you can see it is a very unspoiled environment.

How to get to Cala Rambles

The access to Cala Rambles is by the Camí de Cavalls from es Grau.
You will have to walk about 2.8km to get there.
I have done the route by bike more than once without many complications. All the way is very well indicated and you will see posts every few meters that indicate the Camí de Cavalls.
There will come a moment when you will see this indistinguishable cove, which preserves posidonia (a marine plant) in the sand and is usually empty.
It is very important to bring enough water and food, especially in summer, as the path is long in the sun, and there are no services of any kind.

Once There…

If you decide to go to Cala Rambla it has to be for something more than just to see a beach and take a bath, since the sand is covered with posidonia and you don’t really want to lay your towel on it.
The beach next to Cala Rambla is Ses Mamaes Primes.
It is a spectacular beach that stands out for its shallow depth and the sandbanks that emerge in the middle of the beach.
You can take a walk in the sea with the water at ankle level, and take some very funny pictures.
If you also like history, near the beach you can visit the Talayotic settlement of Sa Torreta.
If you want to go you have to go on a Thursday, as visits are only on Thursdays from 9am to 1pm.
