Article contents
The Route
Section 12 of the Camí de Cavalls allows you to enjoy a very pleasant walk with almost no elevation gain.
It is one of the flattest stretches of the whole Camí de Cavalls, with only 122 meters of accumulated positive elevation gain.
The first 2km are on asphalt through the urbanization of Son Xoriguer.
After passing the urbanization and the beach of Son Xoriguer, the route is almost entirely on rocky terrain with several very small coves along the coast, until you reach the beaches of Son Saura. From Son Saura the terrain enters a wooded area with some wild olive and pine trees that will give you some shade and respite if you have decided to walk in summer.
From the route you can see the watchtower Talaia de Artrutxfrom the 17th century.

Avoid Punctures On Your Bike

This section of the Camí de Cavalls is very rocky and with some sections with quite sharp rocks.
I have had punctures on more than one occasion, so I recommend carrying a spare tube or anti-puncture systems.
How to get to the Start of the Tour (Cape Artrutx)
By car
You can arrive by car at either end of the route, and park for free (although in summer it is almost impossible to park in Son Saura unless you go very early -8am- or very late -7pm-). You can save the 2km asphalt section of the route by parking as close as possible to the beach of Son Xoriguer and starting to walk directly from the beach.
By Bus
You can take the
bus 65 in summer season at any of its stops, the best known:
- Ciutadella
- Sa Caleta
- Bosch Cove
- White Cove
- Santandria
