Binimel-la Cove and Pregonda Cove — Cala Binimel-la i Cala

PregondaBinimel-là beach is located in the northern part of Menorca, inside the Marine Reserve of the North of Menorca and in the municipality of Es Mercadal.
It is a beach of reddish and very thick sand with a small lake just before reaching the shore. Binimel-là is not usually too crowded, except in the busiest days of summer, as it is on the way to Cala Pregonda, for many the best beach of Menorca.
Thanks to this it is possible to enjoy wide sandy areas without many people.

One of the advantages of this beach is that it does not usually have boats at anchor, as they prefer to go to the bay of Pregonda, where they are more protected and have the coverage of the“Escull de Pregonda“.

How to get to Binimel-là

Getting to Binimel-là is very easy.

From Ciutadella take the main road to Maó and turn off at Es Mercadal.
If you are coming from Maó, take the main road and turn right as soon as you reach Es Mercadal. Once you enter Es Mercadal, there are signs with the name “Playas” everywhere, it is very difficult to get lost.

The road leading to Binimel-là is dangerous because it fits two cars and cyclists can circulate in both directions, so respect the speed limits if you do not want to get scares in the curves.
On both sides there are dry stone walls, so it is better not to tempt fate.
On the way to Binimel-là there are signs indicating Cala Binimel-là and Cala Pregonda.
There is a parking lot with a lot of capacity, but in summer it is not easy to find a good place.
From the parking to the beach it is about 5 minutes walk, and you pass by a lake with ducks.

Eat in Binimel-là’s Restaurant with Sea View

Binimel-la has the advantage of being a virgin beach with a restaurant 5 minutes away, the one in the parking lot.
This means that there is no need to carry food or water if you don’t feel like it, and you can enjoy an exceptional natural landscape with plenty of amenities.

Snorkel inside the Marine Reserve

If you get here and you like walking, you can try to get to one of the small coves on the right side of Binimel-là (facing the sea) such as Caleta de s’Elisabet.
It is also almost obligatory to put on a pair of diving goggles and do some snorkeling: You are inside a Marine Reserve!

Walk along the famous Camí de Cavalls to Cala Pregonda

If you don’t like the beach of Binimel-là, you can always start walking along the Camí de Cavalls towards Cala Pregonda.
The hike is at least 30 minutes and in summer you will need water both on the way there and back, don’t forget it!

Binimel-là beach is not usually very crowded precisely because almost everyone decides to continue walking to the most famous beach of Menorca: Pregonda.
