South beaches

Escorxada Cove

Cala Escorxada is one of my favorite beaches in the south. Very difficult to access and isolated from any urban center, this beach is one of the quietest in the south. It is a very beautiful beach, with fine white sand and the classic turquoise waters that characterize the entire south coast of Menorca. The cala is located within the Natural Area of Special Interest Me-13 (ANEI-Me-13) that goes from Binigaus to Cala Mitjana.

Cala Macarelleta

Cala Macarelleta is another of the beaches that usually appears in the postcards of Menorca.
Its sand is fine and white, and the waters are turquoise blue.
It is a beach quite frequented by nudists.
Macarelleta is located in the same bay of Cala Macarella, but it is considerably smaller and has no restaurant.

Cala en Porter

The beach of Cala en Porter is a small cove of the south coast of Menorca.
It is not a particularly beautiful beach, and being located in the urbanization of Cala en Porter it tends to be quite crowded on summer vacations, since the access to it is very easy.
To reach it the easiest way is to go to Maó Airport by the main road, and once you get there, you can take the main road to Cala en Porter.

Cala en Turqueta

Cala Turqueta is for many the most beautiful cove of the island, with permission of Cala Pregonda.
It is a small beach of blue waters with white sandy bottom surrounded by pine trees.
The name Turqueta comes from the color of the water, reminiscent of the clearest and most crystalline turquoise.
To get to Cala Turqueta you have to take the Camí de Sant Joan de Missa from Ciudadela and follow the signs.
Once you arrive at the parking, you are only about 10 minutes away from a paradisiacal beach, which illustrates many postcards of the island.

The 2 areas of Menorca: North and South

One of the peculiarities of Menorca is its distribution of beaches and coves in two main areas.
On the one hand there is the northern area, with rugged relief and a rather dark rock.
On the other hand, the southern area has a more regular landscape, with more vegetation and lighter rocks and sand.
In general, the southern beaches have a whiter and finer sand and crystal clear waters typical of postcards.
