Here you have useful information to be able to travel to Menorca with your dog and enjoy your vacations to the maximum.

Traveling with Dogs to Menorca by Ferry

You can travel to Menorca by ferry from Barcelona, from Valencia and from Alcudia.

• Both Trasmediterranea and Balearia offer the possibility of boarding with pets.

Trasmediterranea

Since 2017 Trasmediterranea has been offering pet tracking service to passengers on some of its ships.

• It is a mobile app that allows you to see in streaming your dog’s cage to know if he has any problem.
• This service is only available on the following vessels: Juan J. Sister (BCN-MAH)

Trasmediterranea’s pet policy is as follows(Transportin policy):

• Accepted animals: Any documented animal (dog, cat or harmless animal) is accepted.
• Carrier: The animals must fit in a cage/carrier of these dimensions – 54 x 40 x 25 cm.
• If they do not fit in the cage (54 x 40 x 25 cm) they must travel with: leash, collar and muzzle.
• Feeding: feeding your pet is your responsibility during the trip.
• Visiting your pet: the policy for visiting your pet depends on each ship.
• Health: you must carry your pet’s health record with you and keep up to date with the vaccination and deworming schedule.

Balearia

The
Balearia’spet policy is as follows:

• Accepted animals: dogs, cats, birds, snakes (the policy does not clearly state this, if your animal is another one you can call to ask).
• Carrier: The policy does not specify the maximum dimensions of the carrier.
• Boarding: Dogs must board on a leash and muzzle.
• Visiting your pet: the policy for visiting your pet depends on each boat.
  In the rapids they cannot be visited.
• Feeding: feeding your pet is your responsibility during the trip.
• Health: you must carry your pet’s health record with you and keep up to date with the vaccination and deworming schedule.

In Menorca there are more than 30 accommodations that allow pets.
Most of them are in Maó and Ciutadella, but you can also find some distributed all over the island.

Dog Friendly Beaches in Menorca (with restrictions)

If you want to go with your pet to the beach in high season (from May to October) you have very few options.
There are only 2beaches that allow you to go with your dog or pet between May 1st and October 31st:

• Ses FontanellesDogs are allowed all year round (since 2021, and confirmed again in 2022).
• Fustam CoveDogs and pets are allowed all year round at any time.
• BinigausDogs and pets are allowed from November 1st to April 31st, and from 7pm to 9am from May 1st to October 1st.
• Escorxada CoveAlthough some websites say that dogs are also allowed all year round, I have not found the municipal ordinance that says so, so the usual rules apply (dogs are allowed from November 1st to April 31st).
