The Route
The route between Cala Morell and Punta Nati is another of my favorites of the north coast.
Having the origin in Cala Morell you can always make a visit to the magnificent Necropolis of Cala Morell before starting the path of about 7km.
This route of the Camí de Cavalls passes through terrain very punished by the Tramontana wind, the rocky landscape with hardly any tall vegetation is a constant. On sunny summer days and without shade options this route can become a quite hard but rewarding experience. It is essential to carry water and avoid sunny days with high temperatures to avoid dehydration.
There are no water sources or buildings along the entire route.
In general, it is an excursion through a totally deserted area.
Excursion Data
- Distance: 7.5km
- Difficulty on foot:easy
- Difficulty on a bike:very difficult
- Walking time: 2h 30min
- Cycling time:1h 30min
To return to Cala Morell by bus, from March to the end of September you can take bus line 62.
Note that from Punta Nati to the bus stop of the bus line 62 you will have to walk about 30 minutes at a brisk pace, you can hitchhike if you come back from watching the sunset and there are many people.
The Landscape

Most of the way is along cliffs very close to the coast and real scree.
The landscape is quite flat and monotonous so it can get boring if you are looking for forests and nooks and crannies.
Just when you start the excursion from Cala Morell you can see the Cross of General Chanzy, a funerary monument in memory of the nearly 200 victims of a shipwreck that occurred in this area of the coast in 1910.
As a result of that shipwreck, the Punta Nati Lighthouse was built (1912).
When you arrive at the Punta Nati Lighthouse you can not miss a visit to its cliffs, if you arrive at sunset the least you can do is stay to see one of the most spectacular sunsets in Menorca.
