beach or Cala de Santandria is a small urban cove located very close to Ciutadella de Menorca.
Santandria is both the name of the beach and the name of the urbanization that is located next to the beach. Santandria is a beach with all kinds of services: lifeguard, beach bars and restaurants, hotels, diving center, zone marked out for bathing without boats, etc.
For all these reasons it is a beach very frequented both by local people and tourists of all kinds, and is especially suitable for families with small children.

How to Get There

Getting to Santandria is extremely easy and well signposted.
You can get there by any means of transport, but if you go from Ciutadella in high season I recommend the bike or the bus to avoid wasting a lot of time looking for parking.

By Car, Motorcycle or Bike

To get there first you have to go to Ciutadella.

From Ciutadella,you only have to follow the RC-2 road in the direction of the Lighthouse of Artrutx or to Sa Caleta directly (it is very well indicated). When you arrive at Santandria there are several free parking areas.
From Ciutadella you can also reach Sa Caleta on foot by the Camí de Cavalls.

By Bus

You can also get to Santandria by taking bus 65 (in summer season it has more frequencies).
Bus 65 passes through Ciutadella, Santandria, Sa Caleta, Cala en Bosch and the lighthouse of Artrutx, so if you choose the bus you can take it to complete a whole day:

Visits Ciutadella and its Old Town
Visit Santandria or any of the other beaches of the tour
Visits the Artrutx Lighthouse

Once There

Swim 1.5km to Sa Caleta d’en Gorries

One of the best things about Santandria is that you can swim 700 meters to Sa Caleta d’en Gorries with hardly any boats.
If you stay within the buoy zone, there is only a 50-meter stretch where you can find boats.
If you complete the round trip from Santandria to Sa Caleta, you can swim a total of 1.5km in a mostly flat sea.

Eat at the Magnificent Chiringuito of Cova Sa Nacra

The chiringuito-restaurant of Cova Sa Nacra is undoubtedly one of my favorites in Menorca.
You can eat fish and local products with sea views in a really privileged environment.
In addition to eating with sea views, if you go with children, from the same restaurant there are stairs overlooking the sea, and you can control the little ones from the tables of the restaurant itself.

The water in Santandria is somewhat cloudy due to the enclosed nature of the cove.
Despite this, if you move about 200 meters away from the swimming area, the water becomes more and more crystalline and it is possible to see a great diversity of marine fauna.
