Minorboats is a small company run by Alex and Diego since 2018 in Menorca.

Since 2021, Minorboats has offered the option of renting speedboats that require a license from the lovely port of Ciutadella.

The boat they offer is a Marinello 26, 7.5 meters long, with room for 9 people. This boat lets you cruise along both coasts of Menorca:

If you rent a boat (with or without a license), it’s important NOT to anchor over seagrass meadows ;).

The boat rented out by Minorboats is a Marinello with room for 9 people. It’s a new boat, from 2017.

It’s a very comfortable boat for the kind of distances you’ll cover around Menorca.

It lets you cruise comfortably at a good speed, and you can also soak up the sun on the bow sundeck. The Marinello has canopies for the hottest summer days, plus a small table with seats around it so you can enjoy a relaxed meal.

Typical Routes

South Coast: Ciutadella > Son Saura > Macarella and Macarelleta > Ciutadella

Cala Macarella from the Air
Cala Macarella from the Air

The most popular route for boats leaving from Ciutadella.

You can visit some of the most beautiful beaches in the south:

  1. Son Saura: One of the beaches most loved by sailors. Loads of room to anchor and really beautiful views.
  2. Macarella and Macarelleta: These are the 2 most popular beaches in Menorca. They’re worth visiting by boat, which helps you dodge some of the crowds on the sand in July and August.

North Coast: Ciutadella > Pont d’en Gil > Punta Nati > Cala Morell > La Vall

Cala Morell from Camí de Cavalls (GR 223)

If the day you take out the boat there’s a south wind blowing, you’ll need to head for the beaches in the north. Personally, I like the northern beaches more since there’s usually fewer people.

  1. Pont d’en Gil: When you pass by the Pont d’en Gil, I recommend stopping to take in the scenery. And if you’re a freediver, you can visit one of the most famous caves in Menorca.
  2. Punta Nati Lighthouse: On the way to the northern beaches, you’ll pass the famous Punta Nati Lighthouse. From the sea you can see the impressive cliffs it sits on.
  3. Cala Morell: Cala Morell is a very popular beach, with bathing platforms and a rocky seabed that’s great for snorkeling.
  4. La Vall: La Vall is a group of coves that are very popular and especially busy during the summer months.

We Talked to Alex and Diego

Why did you add licensed boats in 2021?

After 3 years with the unlicensed boats (which we recommend to anyone wanting to try their hand at sailing), we noticed people wanted to stay out longer and explore more of the coastline.

With a bigger boat, repeat customers can now go further and see both the north and south coasts of Menorca.

What do People Renting with Minorboats Like Most?

With the unlicensed boats, it’s the flexibility to get out on the water for a bit without much hassle.

In 2021 we started offering the licensed boat for people with more sea experience who want to enjoy longer routes with more people on board.

And What do They Like Least?

Until now, what people liked least was not being able to bring more people, which is why we now also have the licensed boat with room for 9 people.
