Top 5 Best Cliff Jumps

Última actualización: 19/08/2024

Menorca is an island full of spectacular cliffs.
Many risk sport lovers practice sky diving from countless parts of Menorca and the possibilities are enormous.
Apart from the obvious risk involved in sky diving, every year I receive inquiries about places to “safely” skydive from.
I put “safe” in quotation marks because it must be clear that cliff jumping has obvious risks and there are always unpredictable factors that cannot be controlled.

Well, here is a list of what I consider the “safest” places, or at least the most crowded, to jump into the sea from the cliffs.
I do NOT recommend anyone to jump if you are not experienced and do not know the area.
In MenorcaDiferente.com we are NOT responsible for possible incidents or damages that any person may suffer from a cliff jump.

1. Cove in Brut

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1cji3uwLrQ Cala en Brut is a Mecca for amateur cliff jumpers.
Lots of smooth stone platforms at different heights that allow you to jump from almost any height.
It is also a good place to dive and the color of its waters will surprise you.

2. Escull de Pregonda

The jump to the sea from the cliff of Escull de Pregonda is fantastic because it falls into a natural pool.
The spectacular thing about this jumping area is that you can only get there by swimming or by boat, and that you have to “climb” to get there.
There are not usually many people jumping here, basically because it can take a long time to get to the Escull de Pregonda:

  • By car to Binimel-là: 30-60min
  • Walk to Pregonda: 30-50min
  • Swim 250-300 meters: 5min
  • Climb to the top of the Escull: 5min.
  • Jump: 1sec

3. Mitjana Cove

Every day there are hundreds of people who jump from the cliff of Cala Mitjana.
After the platforms of Cala en Brut it is possibly the place where more people jump in Menorca.
It is easy to identify the jumping place because sometimes there are queues of people waiting to jump.
I have sometimes seen accidents without serious consequences, especially of tourists trying to jump while holding on to each other or at the same time.

4. Binicodrell Islet

The islet of Binicodrell is a small islet located in front of the beach of Santo Tomás or Sant Adeodat.
It can only be reached by swimming or by boat.
It is not very high and you can jump headfirst without many problems.
In addition to big jumps you can also dive around the islet as it is a very rocky area.

  • Update 2014: There is a sign on the islet indicating that it is forbidden to jump into the water.
In no case do we encourage jumping over the ban, when I wrote this article the ban did not exist.

5. Turqueta Cove

Cala En Turqueta is a beach in the southern part of Menorca very well known and appreciated by both locals and tourists.
It has little space in the sand and the sun sets early due to its location, but in spite of it it is still one of the obliged visits of the coast of Menorca.
To get to the area of the jump you have to go to the left side of the beach (facing the sea) and climb the cliffs that are there.

  • The jump is very low and does not pose a great risk if you do not do anything crazy.

Bonus: Pont d’en Gil

The Pont d’en Gil is a suspension bridge near Ciutadella of more than 15 meters high.
I must admit that jumping from here is crazy and I do not recommend it to anyone unless you are looking for the ultimate risk.
If you are looking for pure risk, here you have a cliff that removes the hiccups. If you jump, it is essential to have someone below to control the passage of boats and keep an eye out in case something happens to you.

Tips Before Jumping

  1. If you are inexperienced, DO NOT jump.
  2. If you do not know the area, DO NOT jump.
  3. If you are not sure, DO NOT jump.
  4. NEVER jump while holding on to someone.
If one of you brakes at the last minute, the fall is very dangerous.
  5. NEVER jump simultaneously with another person.
If one of you miscalculates, you may collide in the air or in the water.
