Which beaches to go to by bus

The public bus lines communicate quite well both the two big population centers (Maó and Ciutadella) and the most touristic urbanizations of the island.
The main problem of using the bus as public transport is that not all the virgin coves of Menorca can be reached by bus.
This does not mean that it is not possible to go to beautiful beaches using the bus, as you will see below you have some good alternatives to forget about renting a car and go to visit the beaches of Menorca without your own vehicle.
- Below is a list of beaches that can be reached by bus.
- I have ordered them from best to worst following my own criteria.

1. Macarella and Macarelleta

From May 2018, access with vehicles to Macarella and Macarelleta will be prohibited, and will only be accessible with the shuttle bus leaving from Ciutadella.
- You can arrive with the shuttle bus from Ciutadella.
2. Son Saura and Es Talaier

Son Saura is a very popular and beautiful beach on the south coast.
Those looking for something more spectacular can walk a few minutes to Es Talaier and enjoy even more crystalline and sheltered waters.
- You can get there by bus 66 from Ciutadella.
3. La Vall

Vall de Algaiarens is famous for appearing in the Estrella Damm advertisement of 2010.
Beautiful unspoiled beach in the north of Menorca.
The bus will leave you 5-10 minutes walking from the beach.
- You can get there by bus 62 from Ciutadella.
4. Galdana Cove and Mitjana Cove

Cala Galdana is a very good beach to go with the family, sun loungers, activities of all kinds, restaurants and a long etcetera in one of the most touristic areas of Menorca.
If you are looking for something more select, on the way to Galadana you can get off at the Cala Mitjana stop and walk about 20 minutes to the beach.
5. St. Thomas and Binigaus
Binigaus if you want something wild and the possibility to make excursions to the lost coves of the south of Menorca like Escorxada or Fustam.
The bus leaves you in Santo Tomás and you have to walk 10 minutes along the beach to get to Binigaus.
6. Son Bou

Son Bou is the longest beach in Menorca.
If you are looking for jogging on the beach it is one of the few possibilities with its more than 2km of extension.
- You can arrive with the bus 32 from Maó.
7. Tirant Cove
Cala Tirant is a very popular beach because it is right next to the urbanization Playas de Fornells.
- You can get there by bus ib08 from Maó.
8. Es Grau

Es Grau is a nice beach with an urbanization not as developed as those in other tourist areas.
Restaurants and small houses everywhere.
- You can get there by bus 23 from Maó.
9. Cala En Porter

Cala en Porter is mainly known for being next to the Cova den Xoroi.
The views from the viewpoint are very nice and there are restaurants with terrace next to the beach.
- You can get there by bus 31 from Maó or Sant Climent.
10. Morell Cove

Cala Morell is an urban beach next to the urbanization of Cala Morell.
A good place to snorkel or to visit the famous Necropolis of Cala Morell.
- You can get there by bus 62 from Ciutadella.
11. Prime Point
Large hotels and restaurants on the beach have turned the area into a major tourist center.
- You can get there by bus 92 from Maó and Sant Lluís.
12. Binibeca Cove

Cala Binibeca Small beach next to the urbanizations of Binibèquer Vell and Binibèquer Nou.
With a picnic area to eat something in front of the sea and with the comforts of an urban beach.
- You can get there by bus 93 from Maó.
13. Son Xoriguer

Son Xoriguer is a beach in the southern part of Ciutadella very close to Cala en Bosch and the lighthouse of Artrutx.
From Son Xoriguer you can start excursions along the Camí de Cavalls and visit the Cova des Pardals.
14. Cala En Blanes

Cala en Blanes is a small and cozy beach that can be seen from the promenade of Sa Farola.
It has a picnic area with palm trees and a small restaurant-chiringuito on the shore.
If you go to Cala en Blanes you can pass by the platforms of Cala en Brut, you can reach it walking in 5 minutes.
- You can get there by bus 61 from Ciutadella.
15. Cove in Brut

Cala en Brut is the goal of cliff jumpers.
Different artificial platforms on the seafront to perform jumps and acrobatics with a fall into the sea.
Be aware that it is not easy and that there are risks when jumping from a cliff into the sea.

16. Forcat Cove

- You can get there by bus 61 from Ciutadella.
17. Calespiques

- You can get there by bus 61 from Ciutadella.
